Tok™ - Human Design Fusion

We at Variér® believe in perfectionism. We believe in evolution and constant development so that we change in accordance with the needs and demands of our customers. Therefore we re-launch the Tok chair in 2010. The idea of the chair is the same – a beautiful masterpiece combining Scandinavian and Japanese handcraft; a design item which is comfortable into the late hours of the day.

An example of the unique "Human Design" is the re-mastered Variér® Tok™. The comfortable reclining chair was designed by renowned designer Toshiyuki Kita. When designing the Tok, the Japanese-born designer turned his vision, that sitting is also a movement, into reality. Functionality, comfort and an extraordinary appearance are what constitute the Tok, which unites Japanese and Scandinavian elements in perfect harmony. Black, white and red painted wood, the finest quality fabrics and a cross-shaped base in satinised steel characterise this re-launched masterpiece.

"The Player"– The limited edition in Paul Smith fabric design

The limited edition of the Tok in particular mirrors the zeitgeist of our millennium. "The Player", as the design object by Variér® is known, embodies pure black elegance. The exciting combination of ebony wood, in combination with the striped fabric by fashion designer Paul Smith, gives the chair its unique character.

"The Demon" and "The Angel": A contrasting couple

"The Demon" presents itself in a fiery, red painted wood shell covered with upholstery made of high quality, red Kvadrat fabric. The extravagant design vocabulary of the Variér® Tok is perfectly underlined by its vibrant colour and sets exciting accents in any living area.

As its Tok counterpart, "The Angel" stands out with its cool elegance. The shell of the design chair is painted in snow-white and covered with sophisticated leather. With its smooth and modern expression of form, this piece of furniture is ideal for multi-faceted living spaces.

By designing the Tok, Toshiyuki Kita has perfectly turned his vision of "active sitting" into a reality and created a recliner chair for people that fulfils the fundamental needs we have when sitting.

The sophisticated mechanics of the chair invite you to take part in "active relaxation" and offer countless seating possibilities. By shifting your weight, the chair can be smoothly tilted and swivelled round. The newly developed cross-shaped base provides stability and in combination with satinised steel, also an elegant look. The cross-shape of the chair base can be found again in the base of the foot rest and together they form one visual unit.
